An Application Specialist 2 exhibits independent application and project planning ability, seamlessly integrating creativity, innovation, and presentation skills to provide best-in-class support to IFF clients. The Specialist demonstrates strong finished product knowledge with excellent problem-solving abilities, establishing and guiding cross-functional teams focusing on product, project, or innovation development. In this role, the Specialist works locally and regionally, utilizing established internal and external customer networks to share and leverage products and techniques in the Dairy and Ice Cream category. They act as a leader and collaborator, training junior team members, and contributing to regional and global technical strategy projects and innovation programs, working independently on high-value, must-win projects.
Responsibilities/Description
* Independently navigates projects from start to finish, acting as a project leader in teams.
* Proactively uses raw materials and advances technology to support IFF clients.
* Displays strong finished product knowledge with excellent problem-solving skills, guiding cross-functional teams in product, project, or innovation development.
* Works locally and regionally, sharing and leveraging products and techniques in Dairy and Ice Cream categories.
* Leads and trains junior team members; contributes to regional and global technical strategies and innovation programs.
* Possesses high-level knowledge of recipe ingredients, raw materials, and their functions.
* Develops and improves finished product formulations based on standards, country, and client requirements.
* Researches, refines, and upgrades solutions for client projects.
* Maintains and renovates recipe databases.
* Engages management for resources and expertise.
* Achieves consistent commercial success annually.
* Creates and executes training programs for technical and commercial staff.
* Anticipates, investigates, and resolves raw material, solution, prototype, and scale-up issues.
* Utilizes new raw materials and technology proactively.
* Recognizes and establishes technical experts within the company and with customers.
* Contributes to technical strategy, category initiatives, and innovation, supporting IFF's growth.
* Identifies troubleshooting solutions and technology providers for customer needs.
* Collaborates with Sales, Marketing, Flavorists, and other departments to support project execution.
* Promotes new technology benefits and applications to customers.
* Provides total solutions with creative problem-solving skills.
* Develops and mentors direct reports and junior staff.
* Contributes to internal training and development programs.
* Fosters regional and global technical networks and relationships.
* Demonstrates teamwork, leadership, and collaboration on high-value projects, often aligned with global accounts.
Requirements
* University/College Degree in Food Engineering, Food Science and Technology, or related disciplines (minimum).
* Preferred Master’s Degree and/or PhD.
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Ice Cream and Dairy industry, preferably in Food ingredient sectors.
* Fluent in English; Spanish is desired.
