Requirements: Advanced EnglishA network engineering technology generalist: background covering routing / switching/ firewalls / wireless LANMandatory Technology: Cisco LAN + WLAN. Other vendors such as juniper nice to have.Palo Alto firewalls preferred, Fortinet and Cisco usefulExperience in campus networking mandatory o complex enterprise locations: industrial, medical or any secure network such as defense or banking.Segmented LAN and WLAN o large 2 or 3 tier campus switching environment o on-premises services infrastructure (DHCP, DNS) o enterprise large campus physical layer – IDF, MDF, structured cabling, SPFs, inter and intra-building fiber, rack layouts and power distribution, path panels.Used to work with a pre-sales or Consultancy mindset and experience o able to go into a previously unknown site or customer network, work in discovery mode to learn the current network structure o Assess physical as well logical network state and issues (therefore onsite required for a small period at least) o Capture / understand / analyze / document requirements and options before going into solution mode. o able to think for themselves when encountering unknowns. the hands-on (CLI, GUI, etc.) work to be expectedStarting from a reference target design (which will be provided by FDT LAN network lead), come up with the high and low level design and step-by-step plan needed to migrate from the current situation to the target. If design shows that new equipment is needed to meet target: prepare BOM and liaise with customer procurement to prepare technically accurate PO (commercials out of scope for this role). BOM to include any physical layer requirements as well e.G. additional cabling.Be the technical lead the current migration at customer site (scope of the migration change will vary site to site). On site presence could be required for this. Post migration hypercare, document and hand over to network operations team. Following skills could be an advantage:Automation experience could be an advantageExperience with Catalyst Center, Netbrain could be an advantageExperience of service provider SDWAN as a customer nice to have but not a big deal if notBaraccuda firewalls nice to have for one of the projects but not needed for others.
