Description Subsea Flexible Pipe System Design Engineer Join Our Team and Shape the Future of Offshore Engineering! In NOV Subsea Production Systems (NOV SPS), part of the Fortune 500 company NOV, we power the industries that power the world. Our core business is engineering, manufacturing, and delivering high-quality flexible pipe systems for offshore oil and gas developments around the globe. NOV SPS designs and manufactures flexible pipes and innovative subsea solutions for the offshore energy industry. With operations in Denmark (Brøndby and Kalundborg) and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and Açu Port), we combine advanced engineering expertise with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to deliver subsea equipment to major oil companies and installation contractors worldwide. As demand for offshore flexible pipe systems continues to grow, we are looking for talented Pipe System Design Engineers to join our global engineering team in Brazil. Your New Role As part of the Pipe System Design Engineering department, you will contribute to the design and engineering of flexible pipe systems for offshore applications. Depending on your background and project needs, you may work with flexible riser system analysis or flexible pipe cross-section design, contributing to the technical development and integrity assessment of flexible pipe systems throughout project execution. Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing, project management, and commercial teams to develop technically sound and cost-effective solutions for offshore field developments. Your responsibilities may include: Designing and analyzing flexible pipe systems for offshore applications. Performing structural and hydrodynamic analyses to evaluate the behavior of flexible pipes under operational, installation, and extreme environmental conditions. Assessing key loading conditions including bending, tension, compression, fatigue, and environmental loads. Supporting the design of flexible riser configurations (e.g., free-hanging, lazy wave) and associated components such as buoyancy modules and bend stiffeners. Contributing to flexible pipe cross-section design, evaluating material compatibility, structural capacity, and potential failure modes. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, manufacturing, sales, and project management to ensure successful project execution. Interfacing with clients, installation contractors, and independent verification agencies. Preparing technical reports and documentation to support engineering decisions and project deliverables. Ensuring compliance with industry standards such as API Spec 17J and API RP 17B. You will be part of a global and diverse engineering organization, working on several major offshore projects simultaneously in a collaborative and international environment. About You At NOV, we are committed to supporting your professional development from day one. We are looking for engineers who are motivated to solve complex engineering challenges and contribute to the development of advanced offshore technologies. To succeed in this role, you typically have: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience in structural analysis, offshore engineering, or subsea systems (experience level may vary). Familiarity with engineering tools such as Orcaflex, finite element analysis software, or similar simulation tools is an advantage. Strong understanding of solid mechanics, hydrodynamics, fatigue analysis, and nonlinear structural behavior. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international teams. Good communication skills and ability to present technical information clearly. Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Why Join NOV SPS? Flexible pipes are among the most complex engineered products in the offshore industry. Every system we deliver is custom designed to meet the specific operational requirements and environmental conditions of each offshore field — from Brazil to Australia, West Africa, and the North Sea. Working at NOV SPS offers a unique opportunity to be involved in technically challenging projects that are critical to the global energy supply. At NOV, you will find: A collaborative and international work environment Opportunities to work on cutting-edge offshore engineering solutions Competitive compensation and benefits Opportunities for professional growth within a global organization Exposure to both engineering design and manufacturing environments Occasional travel may be required to support project activities or visit NOV sites and customers. You will also have opportunities to visit our Açu manufacturing facility, where you can see flexible pipe systems being produced and prepared for offshore installation. Interested?
