This position focuses on backend development — building and optimizing custom WordPress plugins, APIs, and integrations for large-scale, high-performance websites. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of WordPress internals, experience working with enterprise clients, and a strong understanding of scalable, maintainable code.Responsibilities Integrate WordPress withsubscription, paywall, and circulation systems. Build and maintainAPI integrationsbetween WordPress and external platforms. Ensure reliable synchronization ofuser data, subscriptions, billing, and content access. Design backend services and middleware to supportmulti-system communication. Work closely with product and data teams to support subscription and audience workflows. Troubleshoot and optimize data flows across systems for performance and reliability. Develop scalable solutions forhigh-traffic media platforms .Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of WordPress development experience with backend focus. Strong experience withAPI integrations and distributed systems. Experience with platforms such asDarwin CXandNaviga NCS Circ. Experience withsubscription/paywall systemsand audience management platforms. Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and REST/webhooks. Experience integrating WordPress withexternal SaaS platforms or enterprise systems. Understanding of authentication, data synchronization, and system reliability.
