About the Opportunity
Downtown is looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to take full ownership of our day-to-day financial operations. As a fast-growing firm with multiple simultaneous projects and an extensive client base, we need a senior professional who brings organization, predictability and continuous process improvement to our financial routine.
This is a hands-on, ownership-driven role. We're looking for someone highly process-oriented and analytically sharp, someone who sees beyond the numbers and proactively identifies gaps, anticipates problems and builds scalable financial systems.
You'll work directly with leadership, turning financial data into clear insights that support strategic decisions.
Compensation & Structure
* Full-time contractor (remote)
* Fixed monthly compensation: R$8.000 - R$10.000
* Schedule aligned with New York time zone (EST)
What you’ll do
1.Financial operations & accounts receivable
* Manage the company's full financial routine end-to-end
* Lead Accounts Receivable control, including invoice issuance, tracking and collections
* Actively manage aging reports and conduct structured follow-ups with clients
* Oversee correct categorization of all expenses
* Conduct phone-based collections with U.S. clients, maintaining a professional and firm communication style
2.Reporting & financial intelligence
* Perform bank and credit card reconciliations with high accuracy
* Prepare and analyze financial reports, including P&L, expense reports, cash flow and forecasts
* Ensure consistency and reliability of all financial data
* Deliver financial insights directly to leadership to support strategic decisions
3.Process improvement & systems
* Develop, standardize and optimize internal financial processes
* Implement billing systems and automated reminders
* Identify operational bottlenecks and propose continuous improvements
Requirements
Must-haves
* Solid experience (minimum 5 years) as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role
* Proven experience managing full financial cycles (AR, expenses, reconciliations)
* Proficiency in accounting software (Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero or similar)
* 6+ years of experience with financial reporting (P&L, aging, cash flow)
* Fluent English (written and spoken), this role includes direct phone collections with U.S.-based clients
* Advanced Excel/Google Sheets
* Strong analytical skills and extreme attention to detail
* Ability to manage high transaction volumes and multiple clients simultaneously
Nice-to-haves
* Experience with financial system automations and integrations
* Background in professional services firms (engineering, architecture, consulting, etc.)
* Experience with U.S.-based financial operations
* Track record of structuring or scaling financial processes
