Databricks Architect / Senior Data Engineer (Contract)
Location: Brazil (Remote – supporting US-based clients)
Contract Length: 6 months
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Databricks Architect who remains highly hands-on as a Data Engineer to support data platform design and delivery for US-based clients. This role will focus on building and optimizing modern lakehouse solutions, with strong ownership of architecture decisions while actively contributing to development.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and evolve Databricks lakehouse solutions, following medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) best practices
* Act as the technical architect while remaining hands-on in pipeline development, optimization, and troubleshooting
* Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks, Spark, and SQL
* Collaborate with US-based stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
* Optimize performance, cost, and reliability across data workloads
* Contribute to data modeling, data quality, and governance practices
* Leverage recent exposure to Microsoft Fabric where appropriate, understanding how it complements or integrates with Databricks-based architectures
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong experience as a Databricks Architect and/or Senior Data Engineer
* Proven, hands-on experience implementing medallion architecture in production environments
* Advanced knowledge of Apache Spark, Databricks, and SQL
* Experience designing end-to-end data pipelines and lakehouse architectures
* Recent exposure to Microsoft Fabric (hands-on preferred)
* Ability to balance architecture leadership with hands-on engineering work
* Strong English language skills and experience working with US-based clients or teams
Nice to Have
* Experience in consulting or professional services environments
* Familiarity with data governance, security, and cost optimization in cloud platforms
* Experience working in hybrid Databricks / Fabric ecosystems
