Mission of the Position
Participate in patient recovery and assistance in the area. Administer medications and perform nursing care tasks. Assist patients within the hospital unit to provide better quality of life.
Main Activities
1. Organize the nursing station;
2. Receive and verify medication lots from patients using the Tasy system;
3. Perform nursing care tasks prescribed by the nurse according to work instructions;
4. Dilute and administer medications safely;
5. Monitor patient vital signs;
6. Provide hygiene and comfort to patients;
7. Listen, guide, and assist patients;
8. Verify sufficiency of equipment, surgical materials, and dressings;
9. Position patients for surgery;
10. Verify sterilization results and validity;
11. Place the electrocautery tray on the patient;
12. Pass instruments to the surgical team;
13. Monitor the quantity of surgical compresses, material, and pre- and post-operative instruments;
14. Return material to the operating room and seal it;
15. Follow, as a standard, the Professional Code of Ethics of the Nursing Council (COREN);
16. Receive the patient in the operating room;
17. Participate in meetings with leaders when necessary;
18. Take part in training programs and development offered by the company;
19. Collaborate with the nurse in training other professionals;
20. Develop technical procedures according to the nurse's guidance;
21. Maintain the workspace clean and organized;
22. Care for environmental safety conditions for patients and the multidisciplinary team and proper handling of equipment;
23. Be aware of surgeries scheduled to be performed in the operating room you are responsible for;
24. Prioritize procedures of higher complexity according to the nurse's guidance;
25. Perform preparatory cleaning of the operating room at the beginning of the day;
26. Provide the operating rooms with adequate materials, equipment, and surgical instruments according to each type of surgery and individual patient needs described in the care plan developed by the operating room nurse;
27. Remove dirt from exposed equipment and surfaces considering CCIH guidelines;
28. Verify the cleanliness of walls and floor in the operating room;
29. Check gas medical function and equipment;
30. Verify lighting function in the operating room;
31. Take measures for maintaining an adequate temperature in the operating room;
32. Aid the team in transferring the patient from the stretcher to the operating table ensuring correct placement and permeability of catheters, tubes, and drains and correct positioning of the patient for anesthesia and surgery;
33. Notify possible intercurrents to the responsible nurse;
34. Be qualified to perform tasks inherent to surgical procedures under your responsibility;
35. Use equipment, permanent materials, disposable articles, and clothing properly;
36. Fully complete relevant documents for the patient's medical record and the institution;
37. Inform the nurse about existing defects in equipment, materials, and surgical instruments;
38. Control materials, compresses, and gauzes as a security factor for the patient;
39. Aid the surgical team during paramentation;
40. Open all sterile materials to be used with aseptic technique;
41. Request the nurse's presence whenever necessary;
42. Forward pieces, exams, and other requests made during the procedure;
43. Aid the anesthesiologist in induction and reversal of anesthetic procedure if the nurse is unable to be present in the operating room in those moments;
44. Attend promptly to the surgical team's requests throughout the procedure;
45. Respond quickly to patient needs during the surgical-anesthetic act;
46. Aid in transferring the patient from the operating table to the stretcher ensuring recollection and permeability of catheters, tubes, and drains;
47. Forward the patient to the Recovery Room and inform the nurse or technician responsible about their clinical status;
48. Disassemble the operating room and forward each material and surgical instrument to its destination, whether it's disposal or reprocessing;
49. Verify the quantity and functionality of materials and equipment;
50. Perform shift handover in the Tasy system;
