A Controls Specialist – Sustaining Role
About the Position
We are seeking a seasoned controls specialist to join our team. This is a global support role that bridges field services and research and development (R&D) controls engineering.
The successful candidate will be responsible for remotely monitoring and troubleshooting automated machinery at various locations worldwide, ensuring uptime, reliability, and continuous improvement of control systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Remotely monitor control systems via cloud dashboards, programmable logic controller (PLC) access, and on-machine interfaces.
* Provide real-time technical support to field technicians via collaboration tools.
* Analyze performance data and participate in regular global team meetings to share insights and best practices.
* Serve as part of the escalation process when issues impact customer operations, coordinating with internal engineering teams.
* Support ongoing refinement and optimization of control and electrical systems.
Requirements
* Proven ability to troubleshoot PLCs remotely and interpret electrical schematics.
* Solid understanding of electro-mechanical systems, Ethernet networks, and industrial fieldbus protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, etc.).
* Familiarity with industrial control languages (ladder logic, structured text, function block) and human-machine interface (HMI) systems.
* Experience with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical is an asset.
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and field teams.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
* Fluent in English and at least one of: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, or Thai.
* 3–5+ years of experience in engineering support or industrial automation; equivalent hands-on experience considered.
* Willingness to work second or third shift (EST) to align with international time zones.
* Comfortable working cross-functionally with R&D, Field Services, and Operations teams.
