Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to lead the transition from manual regression testing to fully automated execution in CI/CD. This is a hands-on role with clear ownership: build, stabilize, and run automated regression suites using Katalon Studio, fully integrated into Azure DevOps pipelines.
You’ll work across two enterprise web applications built with Angular (front end) and C#/.NET (back end), hosted in AWS and Azure. The expectation is not just writing tests, but owning execution reliability, test data strategy, and automation standards while mentoring a manual QA team.
Key Responsibilities
Katalon Automation & CI/CD
* Build, refactor, and maintain automated regression suites in Katalon Studio
* Execute Katalon tests in CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
* Configure pipeline stages, triggers, and pass/fail quality gates
* Troubleshoot CI-only failures (environment variables, drivers, headless execution)
Test Design & Stability
* Convert recorded tests into maintainable, production-ready automation
* Reduce test flakiness through robust selectors, waits, retries, and refactoring
* Design reusable components, custom keywords, and data-driven tests
Test Data & Environments
* Establish repeatable staging test data strategies (seeding, teardown, isolation)
* Address data collisions in shared environments
* Coordinate API/UI automation for setup and validation
Mentorship & Standards
* Upskill manual QA engineers transitioning into automation
* Define automation standards, structure, and documentation
* Conduct code reviews and guide best practices
Reporting & Metrics
* Publish test results and trends in Azure DevOps
* Track automation KPIs (coverage, pass rate, flakiness)
* Communicate automation progress and risks to leadership
Required Qualifications
* 3–5+ years of QA Automation Engineering experience
* Strong hands-on experience with Katalon Studio
* Proven experience running automated tests in CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps strongly preferred)
* Experience automating Angular web applications
* Solid understanding of REST API testing
* Experience designing test data strategies for non-prod environments
* Comfortable writing maintainable automation code (Groovy/Java concepts)
Preferred Experience
* Azure DevOps YAML pipelines and dashboards
* AWS and Azure-hosted applications
* C#/.NET application familiarity
* Parallelized test execution
* Experience mentoring or leading QA automation efforts
* LIMS or other regulated enterprise systems (nice to have)
