POSITION PROFILE
MGI is seeking an in-country finance professional to play an important role in the expansion of business operations in Brazil. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financials for MGI-Brazil as well as managing the contract accounting firm for Brazil operations and liaison with the commercial team in Brazil. In order to achieve success in this role the position requires the ability to collaborate effectively across all functions and levels, as well as across international boundaries, with finance teams in the US and Shenzhen, China.
Reporting to the US Finance Director, the position is based in São Paulo, Brazil.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Operation:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
Support customer invoicing and sales tax calculation.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
Maintain and improve internal controls and financial procedures.
Support financial processes and IT system improvements (e.g., CRM, Oracle ERP, Concur, internally designed Shared Service Platform)
Month-end Closing and Reporting:
Responsible for over-seeing the contract accounting team in Brazil.
Prepare Month-end closing and ensure accurate and timely Finance Statements are submitted to HQ Reporting team.
Arrange stock take and fixed assets take procedures.
Tax Compliance and annual audit support:
Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Work with tax consultants to prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
Support group annual audit procedures (i.e. audit confirmations and PBC list)
Cash Management:
Monitor and manage the company's cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations.
Own the cash management function and liaison with treasury administrator in US.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Participate in the annual budgeting process for MGI Brazil and Actual v Budget analysis.
Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
Commercial Team Support:
Build relationships with and support the Brazil Commercial team.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience in a fast-paced, fluid, results-oriented, hands-on environment, including with teams that are geographically dispersed across international boundaries.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
Experience with ERP and Financial IT systems (e.g., CRM, Oracle ERP, Concur, etc.)
BS/BA degree in Accounting/Finance/Business. CPA a plus.
Biotechnology/Medical Devices/Pharmaceutical industry experience and multinational experience; experience with import tax a plus.
Proven experience in instrument sales or related industry is a plus.
Knowledge of Portuguese and English is required. Chinese language a plus.
