Overview
The Lead Sourcing Specialist is responsible for providing sourcing leadership and direction within Subsea Well systems packages, sharing responsibility with the Project Manager(s)/Director for the contractual and financial delivery of the project in accordance with the execution and financial plan. The role provides the key commercial interface between internal business units, functions (finance, planning, sourcing, legal, EPC), sub-contractors and the project management team on all project commercial and contractual matters.
Responsibilities
* Define supplier strategy including management and optimization of supplier panels. Lead negotiations, allocate needs to specific suppliers, negotiate terms and conditions, and transmit information to Procurement. Manage claims. Include commercial sourcing management such as data analysis and negotiations support, and related purchasing activities.
* Engage early prior to customer contract award: risk distribution/mitigation and cost validation.
* Develop strategic contracting approaches with suppliers to drive more certainty into execution based on risk-based contracts.
* Contract familiarization and strategy setting with the site team.
* Define and improve sourcing strategies at business or plant level; may include management of regional and business teams.
* Ensure proper rhythms to protect Baker Hughes interests in execution (e.g., monthly contract reviews: cost out-turn, value opportunities, risks).
* Advise functional managers on approaches, processes and procedures in the relevant field.
* Coordinate communication with colleagues and the business about approaches for solving complex problems.
* Control change flow from Baker Hughes, optimize execution, establish and maintain project variation control, and manage negotiations per contract requirements to optimize out-turn.
* Support site team with documentation workflows and related processes.
* Drive long-term strategy: set up templates, optimize contract scope coordination, and align with change order processes.
* Identify and manage commercial risks across project scopes and maintain the risk and opportunity review and reporting process.
* Ensure sourcing management awareness and support the purchase and tender process with regard to customer/project requirements, including AVL/ITP and other project-specific supplier requirements.
* Coordinate with Well Systems and project scheduler, material planning and execution manager to maintain look-ahead reporting for visibility of events and fulfilment issues.
* Accurately manage project cost status and report variances, risks and corrective actions affecting the estimate to complete. Work with product managers on competitiveness.
* Establish a project sourcing plan and timeline with Sourcing function support, mitigating key subcontract and major purchase risks and managing opportunities.
* Ensure compliance with contract administration requirements and manage invoicing to maintain cash flow and on-time supplier payments or financial hold mechanisms.
* Coordinate client and internal reporting and performance presentations.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related legal/contractual/commercial/procurement field related to energy, with experience in Sourcing.
* Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Sourcing Management.
* Substantial Subsea Well systems contract management experience in an oil and gas capital construction project environment.
* Proven track record in improving sourcing profitability, cash flow and control of commercial risk.
* Commercially, financially and contractually experienced with strategic and tactical communication capabilities.
* Strong leadership in a matrix environment and ability to drive change with positive business outcomes.
* Ability to drive detailed work and deliver fast commercial results.
* Proven ability to develop sub-contract management careers and succession planning.
* Fluent in English.
