Backfill IT Support (Deskside Support)
Location: Madison, WI
Responsibilities include monitoring system health, supporting network devices, troubleshooting VOIP phones, managing basic server tasks, and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day IT operations following SLA guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor system health and SLA compliance.
Support network devices (switches, routers, wireless access points); assign VLANs and patch phone ports.
Troubleshoot Avaya VOIP phones and fiber links between switches.
Replace network switch chassis blades and maintain IDF rooms (cooling, power, UPS alarms, PDU health).
Use monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and other utilities.
Assist network and data‑center administrators and remote technical teams.
Basic hardware support (servers, storage).
Use ITSM tools (preferably ServiceNow) and backup technologies (EMC Avamar).
Work with Windows Server 2003, UNIX/Linux, and Windows 2003 Active Directory, MS Exchange 2003, and file/print servers.
Qualifications
Basic knowledge of network devices (switches, routers, RF, CISCO, Riverbed).
Understanding of VLAN configuration and phone port patching.
Experience with Avaya VOIP phone configuration.
Knowledge of fiber link troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Data Center Infrastructure Management applications.
Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, etc.) and ITSM (ServiceNow).
Background in backup technologies (EMC Avamar).
Working knowledge of operating systems: Windows Server 2003 (Enterprise/Standard), UNIX, Linux.
Experience with Windows Server 2003 Active Directory, MS Exchange 2003, file/print servers.
Experience in an SLA‑based environment.
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in the above areas.
