* Heavy experience with:
* MS SQL
* Cloud‑managed databases, specifically:
* AWS RDS
* Azure Hyperscale / Elastic Pools
* Proven experience with:
* Database migrations (on‑prem → cloud, cloud → cloud, or cross‑cloud)
* Designing migration strategies, understanding risks, and mitigation
* Strong automation mindset:
* Infrastructure as Code
* Templates, scripting, CI/CD
* Developer‑style thinking applied to database work
Key Expectations:
* Not just maintenance:
* This person must design, scale, and modernize database infrastructure.
* Strong communication skills:
* Able to clearly articulate designs, tradeoffs, and decisions.
* Observability is critical:
* Metrics, performance visibility, dashboards, and proactive diagnostics.
* Supports broader goal of self‑service troubleshooting for internal teams.
