**Role Overview**:
The **Controller Director, Latin America**is responsible for the Controllership, Governance and Risk activities for all FMC operations in Latin America (including Mexico).
The Latin America Controller will have a dual reporting relationship, reporting into the Americas Regional CFO as well as the VP, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer.
It is critical the person is comfortable working in a matrix reporting environment.
This position is a member of the LATAM leadership team.
The Latin America Controller is responsible for ensuring there is effective financial control, governance and internal controls across the region, including controls over all accounting ledgers, local statutory and regulatory reporting, direct and indirect tax compliance (partnering with COE's in this area), risk activities, and compliance with FMC Policies, Procedures and Practices.
This includes continuously assessing and reviewing internal controls pertaining to the changes of business/operational environment.
When necessary, initiate changes to the business processes and control systems to ensure strong control environment is maintained in the business.
The person will work closely with the shared service centers that provide accounting support to the region as well as other key finance leaders in FP&A, tax and treasury.
Maintaining strong communication with all Latin America financial organization, as well as with the broader
Controller's team in Philadelphia and Shared Service Centers is a must.
This position will also have a global mindset working in collaboration with several groups in striving to bring continued automation, standardization and simplification to various finance practices.
This position will also hold direct interaction/connection with KPMG team for the periodical reviews and discussions raised during the independent audit process.
The position provides support to key business leaders and staff groups including in areas such as geographic expansion and M&A activity.
The Latin America Controller is expected to contribute strategic and thought leadership to the development of the FMC and broader FMC Controllership and Finance teams, both regionally and globally.
**Responsibilities**
- Oversee the financial accounting function to ensure proper maintenance of accounting systems, policies and procedures in support of Latin America business operations in an effective and efficient manner.
As part of this working close with business finance, the broader Philadelphia Controllers team and the various shared services is vital.
This includes the following:
- Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial standards in compliance with both Corporate and statutory requirements.
Controls over revenue recognition processes and working close with commercial, marketing, treasury, controllers and the business finance team to ensure strong controls in the revenue process is critical.
- Oversee the preparation of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements and reports; Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting in accordance with corporate requirements.
- Ensure all month-end closing activities, including GL maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and inter-co cost allocations are done to satisfaction in concert with the broader team.
- Provide input where needed to enhance financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.
- Provide needed support to Regional America's CFO and team.
This includes areas such as Indirect taxes and helping to resolve complexity in that area.
- The LATAM leaders for Direct and Indirect Taxes will have dotted line reporting responsibility to the Controller.
- Primary Liaison point for External and Internal Auditors for Latin America region.
- Ensuring strong two-way communication amongst various finance teams to ensure information flow accurately.
