**JOB PURPOSE**:
The Senior Employee & Labor Relations Specialist job delivers employee and labor relations services in accordance with the organization's policies, legal and regulatory requirements to help build a workplace culture that values employee wellbeing and fairness. With mínimal supervision, this job develops and implements complex employee and labor relations policies and procedures and provides recommendations and consultation on how to handle employee and labor relations issues, while building a positive employee experience. This job also negotiates collective bargaining agreements, and handles grievances and disputes.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**EMPLOYEE & LABOR RELATIONS ISSUES**: Delivers employee and labor relations services, including investigating and resolving employee complaints, grievances, and conflicts in a fair and timely manner, while ensuring adherence to the organization's policies, programs, processes and legal requirements.
**INVESTIGATIONS**: Reviews investigations of issues related to potential violations of employee and labor laws and regulations, ensures up-to-date records of the investigation process and outcomes, and ensures compliance with regulations governing the relationship between the organization and its employees.
**COMPLIANCE**: Identifies and coordinates outreach, internally and externally, to enable businesses to meet their compliance obligations by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records related to employee and labor relations.
**REPORT REVIEW**: Leads and reviews audits, reporting and compliance reviews pertaining to employee and labor relations regulations and programs.
**POLICY DEVELOPMENT**:Applies knowledge of laws and regulations and best in class industry standards, supporting the development of employee and labor relations policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
**RISK MITIGATION**: Partners with human resources and legal team members to assess and mitigate potential risks related to employee and labor relations issues, ensuring adherence to policy, legal and regulatory requirements and ensuring proactive measures are implemented to address any emerging concerns.
**SEPARATIONS**: Maintains and applies knowledge of separation legislation and processes in the assigned markets, including conducting separation activities and mentoring human resources and managers on separations processes, crafting and overseeing applicable templates, and providing severance calculations and advice on options.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Minimum**:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a negotiator, desirable national experience in union management.
- Fluent English language skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field.
**Preferred**:
- Experience in compliance/investigations.
- Extensive experience in labor-related projects.
- Experience with M&A and/or business closures (shutdowns).
