Cattle ranching is an important cause of deforestation and habitat conversion in Amazon and Cerrado biomes. Increasing transparency and implementing traceability solutions to close loopholes that allow the entrance of irregular cattle in the supply chain while building a path to regularization for noncompliance cattle producers are important ways to tackle cattle related deforestation in Brazil.
The Cattle Traceability Coordinator will develop strategies to enhance existing and promote the development of new transparency systems and traceability tools, strengthening the compliance all over beef supply chains in Amazon and Cerrado biomes. Will interact with government agencies, partner NGOs, beef cattle industries, cattle ranchers, input distribution channels, and other project partners to develop solutions for technological and implementation gaps through dialog, innovation, and collaboration. Will also participate in a broader portfolio of solutions adding expertise in cattle sector to a multidisciplinary team in Brazil Business Unit supported by TNC Specialists from the Amazon and Cerrado regions, Science specialists, External Affairs Teams, and interact with Global Staff from the Provide Food & Water unit.

Responsibilities And Scope Include
Proactively follow and promote our Code of Conduct both internally and externally, continuously, and consistently demonstrating alignment with our values.
Design and coordinate the implementation of strategies to increase cattle visibility and traceability and environmental compliance in the supply chain, considering indirect suppliers and loopholes.
Monitor the progress and develop adaptive management strategies to accomplish the outcomes of TNC Traceability projects; this person will coordinate significantly with a dedicated Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Specialist.
Interact with different transparency protocols like Boi na Linha, Selo Verde, Conecta, Visipec, Plataforma Pecuária Transparente, Radar Verde and others, promoting enhancement and development of innovative strategies while seeking synergies and opportunities for collaboration.
Engage with cattle rancher’s associations to promote the concept of cattle traceability in different forums.
Design alternatives to promote simplification and accessibility while promoting cattle producer’s engagement and adherence to existing cattle traceability protocols.
Develop, in partnership with TNC Science Team, technical information to support TNC External Affairs Team in articulating with governments and institutions for the implementation of Individual Cattle Traceability in Brazil.
Coordinate the implementation of traceability protocols in partnership with other NGOs and rural extensionists.
Willingness to travel.
What You’ll Bring
University degree and 5 years’ experience in Animal Science, Agronomy, Veterinary, and other nature sciences. Other degrees will be considered for candidates with strong experience in agribusiness.
Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including staffing, workloads and finances under deadlines.
Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.
Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.
Experience in the beef supply chain in Brazil.
Fluency in Portuguese and advanced English level.
Communication skills.
Availability to travel.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in or knowledge of farm/ranch input distribution channels.
Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Agricultural background or experience in beef industry or cattle rancher’s associations.
Knowledge of current traceability and transparency protocols in cattle production chain.
Demonstrated experience in influencing, developing, and implementing conservation policy and plans.
