Job Description
Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Responsibilities

Support the production and publication of public and internal information – press releases and notes, briefings, quality photographs and audiovisual material – on IOM activities in the North Region, in coordination with the national office in Brasilia.
Support content production for IOM social media (X, Instagram, YouTube, Whatsapp, and Facebook).
Support media and communication trainings for field teams, in coordination with the national office in Brasília, DF.
Support media relations activities.
Support the updating of the database of national and international journalists.
Support the production of campaigns against xenophobia and to promote social integration between migrants and local society.
Provides overall support with research and fact‑checking to produce communication material.
Represent the IOM Communications team at the Communications Group of Operação Acolhida in Boa Vista.
Text editing and reporting support for IOM local reports.
Establish and maintain an up-to-date repository file for communication materials including publications, press releases, clipping, photographs, audio and visual products.
Capture images.
Coverage of online and in‑person conferences, meetings, workshops, seminars, and other events.
Perform administrative tasks related to Communication.
Perform any other duties as may be needed.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION

High School diploma with 3 years of relevant professional experience
Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication or related fields from an accredited academic institution with 1 year of relevant professional experience

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of two years of relevant experience in Communication.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and under pressure.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to prepare clear and concise products.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in Portuguese and Spanish (working knowledge) is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
English is desirable.

The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.
Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances.
