Technical Manager

Candu Energy Inc. is seeking a Technical Manager for a full‑time, permanent position. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong technical and operational expertise, exceptional client relationship skills, and a proven track record of successfully delivering major projects. The successful candidate will join our team supporting both the design of new nuclear power plants and the operation, refurbishment of existing CANDU nuclear facilities, and other projects. This position reports to the Buenos Aires office Engineering Director.
Location – Buenos Aires, Argentina
Your Role
This position requires an individual who is self‑motivated and capable of working independently and developing his/her career and experience in the nuclear field. The candidate shall be able to follow the instructions from a qualified professional engineer to complete the assigned mechanical related scopes or tasks and develop necessary engineering design documentation as required.
The qualified individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Develop and execute task plans to meet project objectives and manage technical integration and interface control across related disciplines.
Select and review engineering methods and materials to ensure safe, high‑performance structures, systems, and components.
Assign qualified staff to project roles aligned with their skills and provide coaching, supervision, and performance feedback.
Lead recruitment and training efforts while offering technical guidance to support team capability and project success.
Oversee technical deliverables to ensure compliance with budget, schedule, quality expectations, and applicable nuclear codes and standards.
Review and approve key technical documentation for the project or specific phases.
Identify and recommend improvements based on project needs and customer feedback, and liaise with internal and external engineering teams on technical matters.
About You
University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
At least 3 years of experience in managing and/or performing safety and licensing work.
At least 5 years of applicable engineering experience including applicable experience prior to engineering management roles.
Sound knowledge of multiple engineering fields and of nuclear technologies.
Demonstrated skills in the management of several complex technical projects, leadership, and project management of a highly technical group.
Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish) and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional client focus and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated business acumen – the ability to think, plan and negotiate strategically with a strong commercial orientation and good understanding of financial measurements.
Additional, preferred qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance.
Experience in executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
Experience in managing subconsultants and work sharing with other offices within a company.
