Job description
Our client is a global mining and energy company developing one of the world’s largest green hydrogen projects. We are seeking a Legal Counsel with strong experience in energy regulation, PPAs, self-generation and infrastructure/energy project development, to act with autonomy in a lean and highly strategic environment. The position reports directly to the Legal Manager for Latin America, based abroad.
Main responsibilities
Advise on PPAs, self-generation structures and related regulatory matters, including interfaces with ANEEL (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) and MME (Ministério de Minas e Energia).
Support grid connection and regulatory requirements for energy projects, especially those linked to self-generation.
Provide legal support on hydrogen regulation (H2 Law) and its ongoing developments.
Draft, review and negotiate commercial, corporate and project contracts in the energy sector.
Assist in matters related to project site land regularization and port-service issues.
Support the business in infrastructure and project development activities.
Provide input on offtake agreements (a plus, not mandatory).
Interface with external law firms when required and operate with a hands‑on, autonomous approach.
Requirements and skills
Bachelor’s degree in Law and active OAB license.
+7 years of experience in the energy sector, either as in‑house counsel or at a law firm.
Solid background in energy regulatory matters and commercial or corporate transactions.
Proven ability to negotiate and draft contracts in English and Portuguese.
Fluency in English (company’s working language).
Spanish knowledge is a plus, but not required.
Hands‑on, autonomous and business‑oriented profile, with solid judgement and ability to operate across strategic and operational fronts.
Availability to work in São Paulo, with some flexibility for travel.
