Kaspersky Americas is seeking a cybersecurity research enthusiast to join our Global Research & Analysis Team as an intern. Our ideal candidate will be a great technical resource who has enrolled in a Computer Science or Cybersecurity course at an accredited university.
This internship provides a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in malware analysis, reverse engineering, and threat intelligence. You will work closely with local team members throughout the Americas, supporting research projects, developing processes, and defining priorities.
* You will assist in defining malicious functionality in Windows x86/x64, MSIL, mobile threats, and web-related malware.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest malware threats affecting our customers and communicate with stakeholders about adding detections.
* Participate in the development of unit's recommended practices and standards, assuming responsibility for accomplishing group goals.
* Suggest ideas for implementation in company products, prototype development, and imagine new detection technologies.
* Create content, analyzing and describing malicious programs (malware), on threat intel reports and documentation on various topics.
* Present IT security to wide audiences (customers, internal sales, etc.)
* Monitor, analyze, and understand malware trends at local, regional, and global levels.
* Optional travel to conferences to give presentations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Strong desire to learn and share research with teammates.
* Interest in malware analysis and security research.
* Knowledge of x86/x64 Intel Assembly (at least 1 year).
* Basic knowledge of WinAPI.
* Executable file analysis skills in a hexadecimal editor (Hiew, 010, etc...)
* Deep knowledge in several fields: mobile device security, statistical analysis, methods of protection against threats, security best practices, polymorphic malware, rootkits/bootkits, knowledge and skills needed to analyze non-standard threats.
* Good knowledge of file formats and ability to analyze malicious code.
* Some experience in programming languages (Python, C#, C, C++)
* Fluency in English is Mandatory.
