We are seeking a proactive Safe Data Exception Program resources who will own the end-to-end governance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Safe Data Exception program. This role partners with cross-functional teams to assess and approve/reject exception requests (USB, FileShare, Webmail), drive a reduction in exceptions, manage incident follow-ups, and deliver knowledge, training, and process enhancements to safeguard J&J data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and evaluate all new Safe Data Exception requests (USB, FileShare, Webmail) from a Data Security perspective.
- Target: achieve an annual 20% reduction in exceptions.
- SLA alignment: resolve pending requests within the same day or the next business day.
- Document decisions with clear justification and communicate outcomes.
- Approve/Reject requests with rationale and share viable alternatives to protect data integrity and security.
- Daily incident management and dispute follow-up for Safe Data Exception reviews.
- Track inquiries, ensure timely responses, and propose alternative solutions when requests are rejected.
- Partner with the PSE team for error handling and with the GSD helpdesk for incident tickets and follow-ups.
- Lead program enhancements by identifying automation or process improvements.
- Evaluate workflows, remove bottlenecks, and explore automation opportunities to prevent data exfiltration
- Develop Knowledge Articles (KAs), instructions, and training materials for Safe Data Exception Review.
- Create and maintain up-to-date process documentation, FAQs, and training resources.
- Manage the creation and delivery of comprehensive project documentation, including timelines, storyboards for workstreams, and recommended timelines for operational enhancements.
- Produce and review Monthly, Quarterly, and other project status reports, incorporating feedback on identified gaps.
- Ensure stakeholders receive clear updates on progress, risks, and issues to support informed decision-making.
- Remain adaptable to additional data security activities based on resource availability and initiative criticality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field
- 1-3 + years of experience in information security, data protection,, or data governance related area.
- Demonstrated experience with exception management, data exfiltration risk, and secure file/USB/webmail handling and be able to explain alternative secure options.
- Strong incident management and customer/stakeholder communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.G., PSE, GSD) and to manage competing priorities.
- Experience developing knowledge articles, training materials, SOPs, and process documentation.
- Project management experience with the ability to create clear workflows, timelines, and training resources.
- Familiarity with risk assessment, data governance, and relevant regulations (e.G., data privacy frameworks).
- Proficiency with common office tools and project management software
