Project Overview
Want to impact millions of omnichannel customers every single week? We are partnering with a massive US-based retail giant to spearhead the modernization, re-architecture, and cloud-native migration of their massive eCommerce platform!
You will step in as a technical leader across key product domains (Customer, Loyalty, Search, Cart, and Data Integration). Your primary mission? Drive new brand onboardings, execute complex database migrations, and scale microservices to a unified cloud-native solution with zero business disruption.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Architect & Design: Lead the blueprinting of scalable enterprise data solutions tailored for massive retail data volumes.
- Pipeline Engineering: Build and optimize robust, end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines pulling from disparate databases, APIs, and message queues.
- Data Modeling: Define the conceptual, logical, and physical data models to optimize high-performance storage and retrieval.
- Technical Leadership: Define technical strategies, mentor mid-to-senior engineers, and act as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements (The Must-Haves)
- Azure Cloud Data Master: 3+ years of intense, recent hands-on expertise with Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse is an absolute must.
- Modern Architectures: Proficient in dimensional modeling, star schemas, Data Mesh, Data/Delta Lakehouses, and Data Vault.
- The Azure Ecosystem: Deep knowledge of Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Databricks, and pySpark.
- Database Administration & Performance: Heavy background working with Azure MI, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Analysis Services, and Informix.
- Data Language Fluency: Expert-level SQL (complex queries, performance tuning) and Python (plus shell scripting in Bash/Unix).
- Schedule Alignment: Must be fully comfortable working up to 8:00 PM CET (which perfectly maps to a standard 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM CST workday!).
Nice-to-Have Skills (Stand Out from the Crowd)
- Experience with Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong feature planning, estimation, and progress tracking skills.
- Computer Science or Data Science academic credentials.
