This includes issuing clear work orders, making sure questions are answered promptly, scheduling work centers, and coordinating the flow of parts to work areas.
The Manufacturing Engineer is also responsible for identifying process improvement opportunities along with proposed solutions.Essential FunctionsCreate shop routers (work orders) based on data released from engineering, ensuring all necessary information is included.
Follow up with shop floor associates to confirm instructions are understood and actionable.Load the shop schedule with tasks and required hours based on the released routers.Answer questions from shop floor associates, coordinating with engineering or other departments as needed.
Ensure questions are answered promptly and feedback is clear.Identify opportunities to create standardized routers to replace job-specific work instructions created by engineering.Manage 'shop jobs', which are jobs primarily managed by the shop with minimal input from engineering.Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.Lead process and product improvement initiatives in the shop.Upgrade technology and equipment to improve efficiency and quality.Assist in interviewing and evaluating new hires.Interface with other departments and suppliers to meet project requirements on time.Participate in manufacturing team activities to meet goals.Provide high levels of customer service internally and externally.Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.Job Requirements and QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of manufacturing experience.Knowledge and Skills: Minimum requirements include prior experience with collaborative work teams, strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
A bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
