Innovation and commitment have enabled KDM to provide excellence in both technologies and service qualities.Key Responsibilities And AccountabilitiesThe IT Support Specialist is essential in providing technical support to operations by troubleshooting regional IT issues reported by users and escalating complex problems to other IT staff as necessary. This role also involves executing transcription projects at the Shah Alam facility when required and collaborating with local management to ensure the reliability of IT systems. The IT Systems Support Specialist will split their week between Shah Alam and KLCC, without commuting between sites during the workday, and will work under the direct supervision of the IT Manager, Asia-Pacific.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and resolve local hardware issues, including workstations, printers, and other peripherals.Address user login challenges, such as virtual machine access, VPN connections, locked accounts, and password resets.Assist with software installation and updates, ensuring applications are properly configured and operating systems for new machines are installed correctly.Perform hardware diagnostics in the regional computer room to ensure optimal performance.Conduct preventative maintenance on tape drives and manage machine/server reboot issues to maintain system reliability.Troubleshoot regional network problems, including internet and intranet connectivity and FTP site access.Support the execution of tape transcription projects to ensure timely and accurate results.Skills RequiredDemonstrated proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems.Solid understanding of basic networking concepts and the interconnection of network components, including servers, PCs, disk arrays, tape drives, USB drives, and barcode scanners.Knowledgeable in installing and upgrading software on both Windows and Linux platforms.Proficient in using command line interfaces for both Linux and Windows environments.Experienced in utilizing Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.Familiarity with the operation of round-reel and cartridge tape drives.Knowledgeable about both 110v and 220v electrical supply systems, enabling the proper matching of equipment ratings to power supply requirements.Required Education And ExperienceHighschool diploma or equivalent.Technical qualifications in IT disciplinesExperience in operating tape drives and familiarity with the ODI Tools for Transcription and reformatting is highly valuedKnowledge or experience of subsurface data types in Oil and Gas Exploration is highly valued.Additional Eligibility QualificationsKnowledge of the operating suite of ODI tools is preferred.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. It also includes enterprise-class IT/infrastructure equipment such as firewalls, network switches, UPS’s, and network cabling, including both copper and fiber optic network cabling.Physical DemandsThis is an active role requiring the IT Systems Support Specialist to spend a major part of the day on their feet and in motion. There can be short bursts of intense activity, such as moving heavy computer equipment or walking up and down stairs. In rare situations, the tasks may involve climbing ladders or working in confined spaces, such as under raised computer room floors and above drop ceilings.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkCore work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed to perform duties.TravelThe IT Systems Support Specialist role may involve occasional regional or international travel.
