Important: This is a part-time work-from-home position with the following flexible schedule: - 10-12 hours per week (may vary week-to-week) - At least 5 days worked each weekRequired attendance at periodic team meetings (as established by the department) Course Description Teaching and mentoring students using backend and fullstack web development technologies (including Node.js, relational databases, NoSQL databases, and React) in the following courses: - ITM 111 - Introduction to Database - CSE 340 - Web Backend Development - CSE 341 - Web Services - WDD 430 - Web Fullstack Development Position Summary - Using university and department-level procedures and materials to mentor and teach students - Gaining and retaining an in-depth knowledge of the curriculum and assignments students are completing each week - Communicating regularly with students regarding their participation and performance, and carrying out outreach efforts to ensure effective instruction and mentoring throughout the course - Developing genuine and meaningful relationships with all students through regular and consistent communication across approved channels - Using department-created and curated training materials, procedures, and systems to prepare and execute appropriate class-wide, group-wide, and individual outreach plans based on student trends and needs - Showing consistent and timely responsiveness to students who respond to targeted outreach - Tracking communication histories and meaningful interactions with students, and planning follow-ups at appropriate intervals - Participating occasionally in training exercises and/or training meetings to receive additional guidance and feedback NOTE: An applicant’s résumé and official transcripts will be used to determine eligibility to serve as an instructor for the courses mentioned above. General Instructor Requirements: - Deep understanding of and commitment to BYU Pathway Worldwide’s mission, defining characteristics, and student population - Fluency in English and Portuguese (required) - Adaptability to new processes, procedures, and technologies - Excellent interpersonal skills: professional, respectful, and unbiased in sensitive situations - Proven reliability and ability to meet deadlines with mínimal supervision - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, video conferencing, and discipline-specific software - Ability to communicate clearly in writing.Experience with online teaching/learning, especially with at-risk learners (preferred) Specific Course Requirements:_Fullstack Web Development Instructor _ - A bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of work experience. - Experience with the following technologies: - Relational and NoSQL databases. - Frontend web technologies include JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON. - Web development frameworks including Node.js and React.Version control systems, such as GitHub.
