Job Summary
The Human Resources Manager will lead the HR function for a gold mining operation in Pará, Brazil, transitioning from the project phase into construction and subsequently full operations. This role is responsible for building and implementing the HR strategy, systems, and workforce required to support a safe, efficient, and compliant mining operation. The position will oversee workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, training, and HR governance while ensuring alignment with Brazilian labor legislation and company policies.
Accountabilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* HR Strategy & Workforce Planning: Develop and implement the HR strategy to support the transition from project development to construction and operational phases. Plan and manage workforce ramp-up for construction and operational teams. Establish HR policies, procedures, and systems appropriate for a remote mining environment. Partner with leadership to support organizational design and workforce productivity.
* Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Lead recruitment efforts for technical, operational, and administrative roles required during construction and operations. Develop local hiring strategies that prioritize community engagement and regional workforce participation.Build relationships with local training institutions, contractors, and recruitment partners.
* Employee Relations & Labor Compliance: Ensure compliance with Brazilian labor laws, mining regulations, and company policies. Manage employee relations, disciplinary processes, and grievance resolution. Support union interactions if applicable and maintain constructive labor relations.
* Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration: Develop competitive compensation and benefits structures aligned with the mining industry in Brazil. Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, and HR reporting. Maintain accurate employee records and HR metrics.
* Training & Development: Implement training programs for workforce development, safety awareness, and leadership capability. Support competency frameworks for operational roles. Coordinate onboarding programs for new employees and contractors.
* Health, Safety & Culture: Work closely with HSE teams to promote a strong safety culture across the workforce. Support initiatives that reinforce company values, ethical conduct, and diversity and inclusion.Foster a positive workplace culture in a remote mining environment.
* Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Support local employment initiatives and community engagement programs. Ensure responsible hiring practices aligned with social commitments in the region. Collaborate with sustainability and community relations teams.
Requirements
The ideal candidate must have:
* Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field.
* Minimum 10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in mining, heavy industry, construction, or large-scale industrial projects.
* Proven experience supporting project-to-operations transitions is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of Brazilian labor law and HR best practices.
* Experience managing HR functions in remote or camp-based operations is preferred.
* Fluent Portuguese required; English proficiency strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements
There is no specific rotation, but regular presence at the mine site is required.
