The Laboratory of Bioinformatics within the Research, Innovation, and Dissemination Centre B3 (Biology of Bacteria and Bacteriophages) at USP invites applications for a FAPESP-funded post-doctoral position to develop bacteriophage bioinformatics methods and to apply these and other methods for the understanding of bacteriophage biology.

Desirable Qualifications
Expert knowledge of prophage detection and annotation in bacterial genomes
Knowledge of DNA sequencing techniques
Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration with experimental biologists aiming to integrate computational and experimental approaches
Specific Requirements
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or a related field from an accredited institution
Strong background in bacteriophage biology and comparative genomics
Demonstrable experience with bioinformatics tools for genome analysis
Demonstrable experience with bacteriophage genome assembly and annotation
Proficiency in Python and R
Demonstrable experience with Machine Learning
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Languages ENGLISH Level Good
Additional Information
Monthly stipend: BRL 12,570.00 (approximately USD 2,300) per month. An additional monthly payment may be requested to cover relocation and moving expenses.
