Overview
Job Purpose:
The role covers month-end close, regulatory reporting, financial statement preparation, and reconciliations. The candidate will also work on process improvements, data manipulation, stakeholder engagement, and support audit requests.
Responsibilities
* Performing the month end close process;
* Preparing and submitting reports to the local regulator (BACEN), such as CADOCs 4010, 4016, 4111, 4050, 9010 and 9011;
* Preparation of local financial statements for both the bank and holding entities;
* Managing the entity-wide Balance Sheet Reconciliation Process (BSRS);
* Work on the reconciliation and GL review processes / projects involving the manipulation of data and spreadsheets;
* Calculation of amounts and raising of relevant general ledger journals for specific accounts;
* Financial and regulatory reporting to group as required;
* Work on projects to automate and streamline areas of the month-end process, including, but not limited to offshoring;
* Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business for which responsibility is assigned;
* Production and review of primary and supplementary data for group reporting together with the detailed business commentary;
* Liaising with business and other areas of support; challenging numbers and obtaining the required information;
* Managing stakeholders and producing ad-hoc analysis for senior management;
* Participating in local product discussions;
* Contributing to system changes and transformation projects;
* Implementing new reporting requirements;
* Closely liaising with auditors and facilitating their requests
Qualifications
* Qualified accountant;
* Proficiency in IFRS and Bacen GAAP;
* Ability to understand HSBC’s activities, products, processes and systems;
* Ability to analyze data and medium to advanced Excel and database skills;
* Excellent communication skills are essential, as are good tact and diplomacy, as the role requires constant communication with other individuals and teams;
* Excellent time management and prioritization of work tasks;
* Self-motivated, enthusiastic and proven rapid learning capability;
* Experience working in an accounting role for a financial institution;
* English and Portuguese proficiency;
* Accounting degree;
