We are looking for a remote Part-Time (20hrs per week) Director of Studies to join our team. You will be responsible for academic delivery and ensure excellence in teaching, assessment, and teacher development.
You will manage the teaching team, oversee lesson quality and assessment standards, and ensure that all academic processes align with industry best practices. You’ll play a critical role in teacher recruitment, training, curriculum development, and the ongoing professional development of our staff.
Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership
* Provide strategic academic direction
* Lead the development and continuous improvement of curricula and teaching resources
* Maintain and raise academic quality standards across the programme
Team Management & Development
* Recruit, train, and manage a team of TEFL trainers
* Mentor newly qualified trainers, providing structured onboarding and ongoing support
* Deliver in-house training and CPD sessions for teaching and assessment staff
* Observe and assess teacher performance, offering developmental feedback
Assessment & Quality Assurance
* Design, implement, and maintain clear assessment rubrics aligned with learning objectives
* Monitor assessment consistency and integrity across the teaching team
* Ensure timely, constructive feedback is provided to learners
Operational Oversight
* Allocate teaching and assessment assignments efficiently
* Manage timetabling logistics in line with teacher availability and learner demand
* Coordinate with internal teams (e.g. tech, admin, student support) to ensure smooth academic operations
* Use IT systems (including ticket lines and online teaching platforms) to manage workflows and communication
Problem-Solving & Communication
* Take initiative in identifying and resolving academic or operational challenges
* Communicate effectively with multiple departments to ensure alignment across functions
* Adapt quickly to changing needs, especially during peak periods and across multiple time zones
RequirementsEssential:
* TEFL qualification
* DELTA or DipTESOL qualified
* Extensive experience teaching General English to adults online & in-person
* Proven track record in teacher training, mentoring, and academic leadership
* Experience observing and assessing teaching practices
* Strong background in academic scheduling and operations
* Strong digital literacy and comfort using educational platforms and IT systems
* Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced, remote working environment
Desirable:
* Previous experience as a Director of Studies or in a similar academic leadership role
* Experience managing remote teams and asynchronous workflows
* Background in recruiting and managing academic staff
