Wheel End Global Manufacturing Development Engineers – Automotive Business

The Wheel End Global Manufacturing Development team leads innovation in manufacturing processes and equipment, scouts emerging technologies, and implements new solutions across our global operations. Utilizing simulation, Six Sigma practices, and a commitment to sustainability, the team crafts solutions designed for future challenges while enhancing our technological capabilities.

We are looking for passionate, innovation-driven, and forward-thinking engineers to join our global team, driving the development of high-performance and cutting-edge manufacturing processes for the automotive industry.

In this role, you will play a key part in the creation of business value by developing processes that are increasingly efficient, high in quality, and environmentally sustainable. Your work will directly support our commitment to delivering high-value outcomes to both SKF and our customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop, validate, and continuously innovate manufacturing processes and equipment, with a clear focus on costs efficiency, quality, and sustainability, in response to the evolving needs of our plants and customers.
* Support production plants in addressing new challenges while promoting knowledge sharing and best practices across the global automotive network
* Collaborate with machinery suppliers to define technical requirements and co-develop manufacturing solutions and new process capabilities
* Perform process simulations and apply Six Sigma methodologies to analyze existing processes and validate new solutions
* Scout and explore emerging technologies, analyzing market trends and innovations in manufacturing processes, with attention to intellectual property opportunities and compliance.

Main Requirements

* Master's degree in engineering, (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Mechatronics)
* Proficient in English both spoken and written
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
* Solid understanding of material properties, heat treatments and their applications in manufacturing.
* Proficiency in data analysis and statistical process control, applied to improving manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
* Willingness and ability to interact effectively with production plants and suppliers, including availability to travel when required

Will be considered meritorious:

* Direct experience in automotive manufacturing, particularly in bearing production
* Hands-on experience with process simulation tools and digital twin technologies for manufacturing applications
* Knowledge of coating materials and surface deposition techniques
* Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing (3D printing) and CNC machining
* Proficiency in Matlab or Python programming; experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
* Proven experience in developing and deploying AI and machine learning solutions for visual inspection, process optimization, and automation systems, including robotics integration,

Some Additional Information

While the preferred location for this position is our Automotive site in Airasca (Turin, Italy), we are open to consider other Automotive Global Wheel End sites (Tudela, Spain - Luechow, Germany - Puebla, Mexico - Cajamar, Brasil - Shanghai, China) - on local contract.
