Responsibilities
Be the technical lead during migration at customer site; on-site presence may be required; post-migration hypercare, document and hand over to network operations team.
Starting from a reference target design, come up with high and low level design and a step-by-step plan to migrate from the current situation to the target.
If the design shows that new equipment is needed, prepare BOM and liaise with customer procurement to prepare technically accurate PO (commercials out of scope for this role). BOM to include any physical layer requirements such as additional cabling.
Work with a pre-sales or consultancy mindset and perform discovery at unknown sites to learn the current network structure; assess physical and logical network state and issues; capture/understand/document requirements and options before moving into solution mode.
Ability to think independently when encountering unknowns; hands-on work (CLI, GUI, etc.) is expected.
Work on campus networking in large environments (2-3 tier) with on-premises services infrastructure (DHCP, DNS) and a large campus physical layer (IDF/MDF, structured cabling, fiber, rack layouts, power distribution).
Qualifications / Requirements
Advanced English
A network engineering technology generalist: background covering routing / switching / firewalls / wireless LAN
Mandatory technology: Cisco LAN + WLAN. Other vendors such as Juniper are nice to have.
Palo Alto firewalls preferred; Fortinet and Cisco useful
Experience in campus networking mandatory for complex enterprise locations: industrial, medical or any secure network such as defense or banking.
Segmented LAN and WLAN in large campus environments; on-premises services infrastructure (DHCP, DNS); enterprise large campus physical layer – IDF, MDF, structured cabling, SPFs, inter- and intra-building fiber, rack layouts and power distribution, path panels.
Experience working with a pre-sales or consultancy mindset and discovery at an unknown site; assess physical and logical network state and issues; capture/understand/document requirements and options before solution mode. Hands-on work (CLI, GUI, etc.)
Starting from a reference target design (provided by FDT LAN network lead), design the high and low level design and a step-by-step migration plan.
If new equipment is needed to meet the target, prepare BOM and liaise with customer procurement to prepare technically accurate PO (commercials out of scope). BOM to include physical layer requirements such as additional cabling.
Be the technical lead for the current migration at customer sites; on-site presence could be required. Post-migration hypercare, document and hand over to the network operations team. (Advantages: automation experience, Catalyst Center, NetBrain; SD-WAN experience; Barracuda firewalls.)
