Summary
Vendor Category Managers provide an essential component of the end-to-end vendor management solution that reduces risk to our company and projects, while maximizing value for both IQVIA and our customers.
The Vendor Category Manager will provide proactive clinical vendor oversight on assigned studies and be the primary contact for vendor advice and expertise. They will focus on vendor performance management, governance, consolidation, risk mitigation, and quality improvement. The Vendor Category Manager may lead account-level vendor oversight and support cross-functional clinical vendor strategy development.
Essential Functions
1. Accountable for clinical vendor oversight on medium to large-sized multi-regional clinical studies, ensuring compliance with contracts, optimizing speed, quality, and cost of delivery, and maintaining consistent use of study tools, training materials, and adherence to policies and procedures. This includes onboarding, performance monitoring, financial management, lessons learned, best practices, and quality assurance.
2. May lead account-level vendor oversight.
3. Achieve clinical vendor quality by identifying risks and issues, responding to project team concerns, and supporting corrective and preventative actions.
4. Ensure consistent use of study tools and training materials, and compliance with standard processes, policies, and procedures.
5. Create and maintain category and/or preferred clinical vendor supporting materials for project teams.
6. Collaborate with other functional groups to manage clinical vendor issues, obstacles, and contracting processes.
7. Proactively manage clinical vendor risks and contingencies, leading problem-solving and resolution efforts.
8. Serve as primary or backup for other Vendor Category Managers.
9. Participate in clinical vendor strategy development and support vendor landscape awareness among stakeholders.
10. Forecast and identify opportunities to accelerate activities and bring revenue forward.
11. Support corporate initiatives and serve as a change advocate.
12. Provide input on project team members’ performance and support staff development and mentorship.
Experience
Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience, including over 1 year of project management or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge
Good knowledge of clinical trials and vendor management, including clinical trial conduct and applicable regulatory requirements such as ICH GCP and local laws. Broad protocol, therapeutic, and procurement knowledge is desired.
