We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join a data‑driven environment where analytical clarity and strong problem framing are key to successful delivery.
Role Purpose
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for driving clarity and decision quality in data‑driven initiatives by owning problem definition, scope, data semantics, and business validation.
This role ensures that work entering delivery is analytically sound, aligned to business outcomes, and ready for implementation by Architecture and Engineering teams.
The Senior BA operates at the intersection of business, data, and delivery, without owning project execution or technical design.
Key Responsibilities
Lead discovery and initiation activities to translate business questions into clearly defined problems, avoiding premature solutioning.
Define and document scope boundaries (in / out), assumptions, constraints, and success criteria for data initiatives.
Ensure alignment between business objectives, roadmap priorities, and data capabilities.
Own the business meaning and intent of data elements across source systems and analytical layers.
Lead the creation and maintenance of data mapping artifacts (semantic mapping, not technical pipelines), in collaboration with Engineering, Architecture and Service Delivery teams.
Define use cases, business rules, and acceptance criteria to validate analytical outputs.
Stakeholder Engagement (for Understanding, not Delivery)
Engage stakeholders to elicit requirements, clarify needs, challenge assumptions, and validate outcomes.
Act as a trusted partner to business leads by framing options, trade‑offs, and recommendations.
Support PMs and Program Managers with analytical clarity without owning stakeholder management cadence or delivery communications.
Validate that delivered data products and analytical outputs meet defined business expectations.
Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by defining validation scenarios and acceptance criteria.
Identify early risks related to scope, data availability, semantics, or misalignment and elevate appropriately.
Partner with Architecture, Engineering, Service Delivery and Governance teams to ensure feasibility while preserving business intent.
Work alongside PMs to support predictable delivery without assuming delivery ownership.
Collaborate with Data Governance, Data Quality, and platform teams when needed.
Act as a role model for senior BA behaviours, including structured thinking, problem decomposition, and decision framing.
Mentor junior BAs and contribute to improving BA standards, templates, and practices.
Support the continuous improvement of the BA Office operating model.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience as a Business Analyst in data‑centric, analytics, or platform environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead problem framing, scope definition, and requirements in complex initiatives.
Solid conceptual understanding of data warehouses, data lakes, and layered architectures (for example medallion architecture), without requiring hands‑on technical work.
Proven experience producing high‑quality BA artifacts such as problem statements, scope definitions, data mappings, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to challenge constructively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A Senior Business Analyst in this role is expected to:
Operate with minimal supervision.
Acknowledge and anticipate risks and ambiguities before they impact delivery.
Influence outcomes through clarity and evidence, not authority.
Protect delivery teams by ensuring analytical readiness upstream.
Maintain strong boundaries between analysis, delivery, and engineering.
