Visual Design Leadership Role
This high-volume production position requires a seasoned visual design professional to lead a team of designers in creating websites, logos, and visual assets for local service businesses.
* Critical Review: Daily inspections will ensure that designs meet excellence standards, not just completion. Logos should complement type, hero images must establish trust, and layouts should guide the viewer's eye correctly.
* Talent Development: Detailed critiques on real work will train the team's taste through specific feedback.
* Industry Expertise: Stay up-to-date with what works across industries, update design standards, and eliminate ineffective approaches. When spotting effective patterns, train the team immediately.
* Hands-on Execution: As a team leader, you're expected to execute tasks yourself - refresh logos, fix layouts, and improve visual hierarchy.
High-volume production involves handling hundreds of sites and thousands of updates monthly. Speed and quality aren't mutually exclusive; they require discipline, efficient systems, and dedicated professionals.
Requirements
* At least 5 years of experience in visual design with a portfolio showcasing refined taste.
* 2+ years of leadership or management experience in a design team, enforcing standards, providing constructive feedback, and developing talent.
* Hands-on execution skills: create and refine logos, correct layouts, and enhance visual hierarchy.
* Production expertise: worked in environments where volume was crucial (agencies, e-commerce, high-output teams).
* Unwavering commitment to quality: reject 'fine' work as it doesn't lead to success.
