Job Description
The Role of a Release Manager is to orchestrate the delivery of software releases, ensuring they meet business objectives and are executed smoothly.
This involves planning, coordinating, communicating, scheduling, and facilitating software releases to ensure alignment with organizational strategy and goals. The position works closely with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle to guarantee the quality and timeliness of releases, monitor progress during release windows, identify areas for improvement through testing feedback, and develop reports to communicate release performance to leadership.
Responsibilities:
* Plan and coordinate software releases to meet business requirements.
* Collaborate with development, QA, operations, and change management teams to ensure readiness and quality.
* Monitor and communicate release progress, identify risks, and escalate issues as needed.
* Facilitate release meetings and maintain release calendars.
* Review testing outcomes and work with QA to address defects and improvement opportunities.
* Develop and maintain release documentation, including release notes and rollback plans.
* Produce reports on release performance and communicate findings to leadership.
* Ensure compliance with established release management policies and best practices.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives for release processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
* 4+ years of experience in release coordination, change management, or related IT governance roles.
* Familiarity with SDLC processes and testing practices.
* Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, or similar for tracking and documentation.
