The Role Our Client is seeking a Finance Director / Accounting Controller to lead their client service engagements and manage a team of accounting staff. This is a high-level leadership role responsible for overseeing the full accounting lifecycle for multiple clients, ensuring that all financial reporting meets GAAP and firm standards. The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner to both the firm’s leadership and its clients, moving beyond simple bookkeeping to provide deep financial analysis, budget forecasting, and complex accounting cleanup. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Client Management Leads a portfolio of client engagements, ensuring proactive communication and a high-quality service experience. Provides daily leadership to accounting staff, offering coaching, feedback, and support to strengthen team performance. Establishes and maintains internal control policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of financial reporting. Financial Oversight & Reporting Reviews and finalizes financial statements, management reports, and general ledger reconciliations. Monitors and reports on operating costs, identifying areas for management attention and facility budget improvements. Directs and executes complex accounting cleanup projects, including reconstructing historical activity and preparing books for external audits. Strategic Planning & Analysis Coordinates the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, reporting on variances to keep clients on track. Analyzes financial data to create projections and develop reports for informed, data-driven decision-making. Partners with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders to advance organizational goals and operational efficiency. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred. Experience: At least 5 years in a supervisory or management role, with at least 2 years specifically as an Accounting Manager handling independent operations. Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and macros). Subject Matter Expertise: Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, standards, and regulations. Communication: Excellent English communication and writing skills (Advanced proficiency is a non-negotiable requirement).
