Full Stack Java Engineer Opportunity
This is a hands-on role for an experienced Full Stack Java Engineer with a passion for architectural design and system modernization. You will be on a team that is leading the transition of a legacy system into a modern, modular, and scalable architecture—leveraging modern techniques.
In this pivotal role, you will work closely with leadership and a small engineering team to gradually refactor and rebuild our core system while keeping the production environment stable, secure, and performant. This involves participating in the architectural design and progressive refactoring of a legacy Java-based SaaS system into a clean, modular system.
The ideal candidate will have experience in architectures like the Strangler Fig pattern, Hexagonal Architecture, and CLEAN architecture principles. Additionally, they should be proficient in troubleshooting distributed systems and handling complex production issues.
This is a unique opportunity to tackle a meaningful challenge of modernizing a production system with real-world impact. As a senior developer leader, you will have ownership in the architectural direction and leave a long-term legacy in the codebase.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JS) for full-stack development where needed. They should also have a solid understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure as code (Terraform/CloudFormation), and DevOps practices.
The successful candidate will share architectural knowledge through diagrams, documentation, and code reviews. They will advocate for modern design principles and mentor developers on best practices.
This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Java development experience, including modern versions (Java 8+), Spring Boot, or equivalent frameworks. Experience with AWS services, including Lambda, RDS, EC2, and S3, is also highly desirable.
