Research Intern Opportunity
Kaspersky GReAT is seeking a highly motivated and skilled intern to contribute to our cybersecurity research initiatives. This role offers an exciting chance to gain hands-on experience in malware analysis, reverse engineering, and threat intelligence.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for learning. Previous experience in programming languages such as Python, C#, C, or C++ is desired. Additionally, fluency in English is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
* Support on research projects, developing processes, defining priorities, following deadlines, and delivering material to relevant teams.
* Define malicious functionality in Windows x86/x64, MSIL, mobile threats, and web-related malware.
* Stay current with the latest malware threats affecting customers.
* Communicate with clients regarding detection additions.
* Participate in the development of unit recommendations and standards.
* Suggest ideas for implementation in company products.
* Contribute to content creation by analyzing and describing malicious programs.
* Present IT security topics to various audiences.
* Monitor, analyze, and understand malware trends at local, regional, and global levels.
Requirements:
* Strong desire to learn and share research findings with teammates.
* Interest in malware analysis and security research.
* Knowledge of x86/x64 Intel Assembly (at least 1 year).
* Basic knowledge of WinAPI.
* Experience with IDA Disassembler, HIEW, OllyDbg, or Windbg for PE file analysis (at least 1 year).
* Executable file analysis skills using hexadecimal editors.
* Deep knowledge in several areas: mobile device security, statistical analysis, protection methods, security best practices, polymorphic malware, rootkits/bootkits, and non-standard threats.
* Good understanding of file formats and malicious code analysis.
* Linux OS knowledge and POSIX standards.
* Excellent knowledge of Windows PE file format.
* Some experience in programming languages (Python, C#, C, C++) [At least 1 year in any].
Bonus Skills:
* Hobby experience, blog posts, or research projects are strongly desired.
* Good communication skills for working with developers, analysts, researchers, marketing, PR, sales, etc.
* Good presentation skills.
* Technical article writing skills.
* Experience in developing tools and documentation for researchers.
