SWX is seeking: oceanographers, scientists, engineers, visual and performing artists, geographers, historians, researchers, writers, educators, journalists, business leaders, underwater videographers and photographers, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) pilots, and medical and scuba diving professionals.Position: Lecturer/Marine Biologist, Kendal CollegeCALL FOR TEAM MEMBERS: BREAKING BOUNDARIES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WORLDLocation: Falkland Islands — South Georgia — Elephant Island — Western Antarctic Peninsula — Polar CircleEmbark on a life-changing, 24-day journey to one of Earth’s most remote and breathtaking regions, during February 14 to March 10, 2026. Sea Women Expeditions (SWX) will assemble a team of 25 extraordinary explorers to travel to the Bottom of the World.In partnership with Blue Green Expeditions, SWX will provide a platform for Indigenous and non-Indigenous women and non-binary, two-spirit, and gender-diverse explorers to develop leadership skills and gain ocean research experience in one of the harshest climates on Earth.Join SWX’s leadership and arts programs and our ocean research and dive & snorkel expedition to the Southern Ocean and the Weddell Sea aboard Oceanwide Expeditions’ M/V Hondius, the world’s first-registered Polar Class 6 vessel built for expedition cruising.During this 21st-century polar expedition, we’ll bring together a world-class lineup of international experts across the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) fields. We’ll conduct pioneering ocean research, immersing ourselves in polar waters and participating in a unique leadership program that merges the arts and sciences. Early-, mid- and late-career team members are welcome.SWX is seeking diverse experts to contribute their skills and expertise to create a collaborative team of 21st-century polar explorers.In partnership with Blue Green Expeditions and Oceanwide Expeditions, SWX will work alongside dive masters experienced in Antarctic scuba diving and snorkeling operations.Ocean Research: The Western Antarctic Peninsula is a highly productive marine ecosystem that has experienced significant changes since the 1950s, including 3°C warming, glacier retreat, reduction of sea-ice cover, and shifts in marine populations.Backed by scientific permits and in collaboration with university partners, SWX's ocean research will include sea water sampling for eDNA analysis, zooplankton and phytoplankton studies, and invertebrate zoological investigations.Each STEAM participant will contribute to valuable environmental research while building lasting connections at the Bottom of the World.This is more than an expedition—it’s an opportunity to gain unparalleled leadership skills in the field and inspire global change.Application: To apply to become a member of this STEAM team exploring the Bottom of the World, please send your biography and resume to Lecturer/Marine Biologist, Kendal College.
