Job category: Others: Education and TrainingContract: Fixed Term ContractEE position: NoIntroductionMANCOSA, a DHET registered and CHE accredited private higher education distance education provider, offering undergraduate and postgraduate business qualifications, has the following vacancy available: Research Administrator – DurbanCORE FUNCTIONSPROCESSING OF DOCTORAL THESIS AND ETHICS APPLICATIONCheck student’s registration status on Manmis/SIS to ensure that student is currently registeredCapture topic details onto excel database and Manmis/SISRegular communication with students and supervisors regarding PPR and Pastoral CareCommunicate with supervisors for prospective examiners, and non-evaluative report of the thesisCommunicate with prospective thesis examiners for their availabilitySet-up dates for mock-thesis defence, and final thesis defenceAcknowledge receipt of application submitted to Mancosa Research Ethics Committee (MREC)Communicate to the student external examination outcome.Minute taking for the MRECInform researcher about the outcome of the ethics applicationTHESIS RATIFICATION AND COMPILATION OF PROVISIONAL GRADUATION LISTSCompile all the relevant documents based on the ratification check listFollow up with supervisors if there are outstanding reportsCompile the final ratification pack, ensuring that the checklist is completeSubmit the completed ratification pack to the panel for review and sign-offProvide a final ratification list to the Graduation Department, as per the agreed upon dateDISSEMINATION OF HARDBOUND THESIS COPIES TO THE MANCOSA LIBRARYMake sure a copy of all the theses is disseminated to the library.GENERAL ADMINISTRATIONEnsure that the topic processing and ratification spreadsheets are updated and saved on e-commonProvide students with templates and resourcesAttend to all queries (email, telephonic, face-to-face)Process claims for supervisors, external examiners and facilitators.Conduct regular report meetings with the DBA coordinator and Senior Research AssociateRESEARCH EVENTSAssist with the planning and execution of research events (conferences, colloquiums, etc.)Perform allocated duties on the day of the event.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSQUALIFICATIONSAdvantageous QualificationA post graduate qualification in Business Administration.EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSAt least 12 month’s administrative experienceExperience within a higher education institution is advantageousExperience masters and doctoral students is advantageous.SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Proficient in MS office (word, excel, PPT, outlook)Attention to detailAbility to multitaskAbility to work under pressureAbility to handle difficult studentsHonesty and IntegritySound moral principlesADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to work during weekends when requested
