Position Overview

The Director, FP&A – People Costs is a critical strategic partner to the CHRO, responsible for driving financial rigor, transparency, and forward-looking insights across all People Costs globally. This role will lead analysis, planning, forecasting, and process excellence for People Costs, while partnering closely with HR Zone Leaders, Finance, and Data & Analytics teams to ensure costs are well-managed, benchmarked, and aligned with business priorities.


This is an early-career Director role, ideal for a high-performing Senior Manager ready to step into a broader enterprise-level leadership position with significant visibility and impact.


Key Responsibilities

1. Monthly People Cost Performance & Forecasting (Primary Accountability)

* Lead the monthly analysis of People Costs across all zones, including actuals vs. budget, trend analysis, and forward-looking forecasts.
* Partner closely with HR Zone Leaders to:
* Identify drivers of performance and variances.
* Surface risks and opportunities to return to or beat plan.
* Diagnose top People Cost issues and facilitate structured problem-solving discussions.
* Ensure clear ownership of actions and follow-through.
* Leverage Zero-Based Organization (ZBO) analysis and external benchmarks to:
* Assess performance versus standards and peers.
* Identify structural cost opportunities and productivity improvements.
* Synthesize insights into clear, compelling executive-level narratives, not just reports.


2. Lead the Global People Cost Budget & Planning Process

* Own and lead the end-to-end People Cost budget process, delivering a high-quality consolidated plan to Global FP&A.
* Establish and maintain:
* Budgeting templates.
* Planning assumptions and guidance.
* Analytical frameworks to ensure consistency and comparability across zones.
* Partner with HR and Finance leaders in each zone to ensure:
* Timely submission of plans.
* High-quality, well-reasoned inputs.
* Clear articulation of levers to achieve or exceed plan.
* Analyze the consolidated plan to identify:
* Key risks and opportunities.
* Cost levers and trade-offs.
* Scenarios to support decision-making.


3. Build and Implement a Scalable People Cost Management Process

* Design and implement a standardized, end-to-end People Cost management process, integrating:
* Budgeting
* Monthly results
* Forecasting
* Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate reporting and analysis.
* Partner cross-functionally with:
* Finance
* HR Zone Leaders
* Data Scientists / Analytics teams
* Drive adoption of new tools, dashboards, and ways of working that improve insight, speed, and decision quality.


4. Strategic Project Management (Approx. 25% of Role)

* Support the CHRO by project managing high-priority, non-People Cost initiatives, acting as a trusted thought partner and execution leader.
* Responsibilities may include:
* Structuring complex initiatives.
* Developing workplans, milestones, and tracking mechanisms.
* Driving cross-functional alignment and accountability.
* Preparing executive-level materials and updates.
* This aspect of the role provides exposure to enterprise-wide priorities and senior leadership.


Critical Capabilities & Skills

* Advanced data analytics and financial modeling skills, with the ability to translate data into insights.
* Strong problem-solving mindset;
comfortable working through ambiguity and complexity.
* Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, particularly in executive presentations.
* Ability to influence without authority and work effectively across geographies and functions.
* High learning agility, ownership mindset, and bias for action.
* Comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels.


Experience & Profile

* 8–12 years of experience in FP&A, finance, strategy, or related analytical roles.
* Currently a Senior Manager or equivalent, ready for a first Director role.
* Experience partnering closely with senior leaders (HR or functional leadership exposure strongly preferred).
* Background in budgeting, forecasting, and performance management in a complex, multi-geography organization.
* Experience with ZBO, cost transformation, or productivity programs is a strong plus.
