In This Role, You Will:
Execute high‑quality real‑time VFX for the client.
Create all necessary art for visual effects, including concepts, prototypes, textures, materials, and final in‑game FX.
Develop effects across a wide range of styles, from realistic to stylized, with an emphasis on high‑energy gameplay readability.
Contribute to next‑gen arena visuals, gameplay moments (flips, jumps, boosts, grabs), and new core‑loop effects.
Work within Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints, materials, shaders, and logic‑driven systems.
Collaborate with engineers, artists, and designers to ensure FX integrate smoothly into gameplay and pipelines.
Support sprint deliverables and production deadlines leading up to major milestones.
About the Project:
Updated visuals for arenas and core gameplay elements.
A shift toward ESPN‑style, sports‑broadcast‑inspired VFX, with less traditional arcade styling.
A focus on scripting‑heavy FX behaviors and technical implementation.
No cosmetics work — purely gameplay and core experience.
August delivery milestones requiring additional mid‑level VFX support.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Primarily execution‑focused work rather than high‑concept ideation.
Implementing technical FX solutions using Blueprints, shaders, logic systems, and materials.
Creating textures and materials as needed to support FX systems.
Working cross‑functionally with a small, agile team.
Contributing to a live service pipeline with frequent iteration and updates.
Requirements
Strong portfolio / reel demonstrating high‑quality real‑time VFX.
Proficiency with Unreal Engine (UE5 preferred).
Experience with Blueprints, materials, shaders, and logic‑driven FX.
Solid technical background paired with strong artistic instincts.
Experience working on live service or active production projects.
Ability to create all components needed for VFX (textures, meshes, materials, prototypes).
Strong sense of timing, weight, animation principles, and motion.
Eager to keep learning.
Nice to have
Experience with Call of Duty–style FX sensibilities (timing, punch, clarity).
Strong animation fundamentals — especially movement, impact, and timing.
Experience shipping multiple titles in the game industry.
Desire to grow pipelines, tools, and collaborative processes.
