Job Description
The British Embassy seeks an experienced Human Resources leader to oversee the work of the HR Team in Brazil. This role requires a highly skilled and enthusiastic professional with extensive knowledge of the Brazilian labour market and regulations, as well as the ability to quickly adapt to HR policies relevant to UK Diplomats.
* Lead the HR team, setting direction and motivating staff to achieve goals.
* Develop and implement HR strategies for the Brazil Network, including performance management, staff communications, and induction processes.
* Oversee the processing of LE payrolls, staff benefit packages, and Performance-Related Pay.
* Monitor the LE pay budget and prepare detailed reports for tracking and decision-making.
* Consult with the Network lawyer on local labour law issues and monitor legal cases.
* Advocate for UK diplomats on local issues and provide support for seasonal vaccines and COVID pandemic-related matters.
Contract Management
* Manage procurement and performance of HR services, including LE healthcare and insurance packages.
* Ensure value for money, strong supplier relationships, and key performance indicators in contracts.
* Monitor usage closely and carry out staff awareness sessions on best practice for plan performance and usage.
Resources Managed
* Lead a team of 3 HR Business Partners, 2 assistants, 3 interns, and 3 Receptionists.
* Directly line manage the B3 HR Manager.
* Ensure robust line management processes are in place, covering learning and development, performance management, and tasking.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* At least 5 years of Human Resources or related experience, with at least 3 years of management/leadership experience.
* Strong knowledge of Brazilian labour laws.
* Team leadership and management skills.
* Strong communication and customer engagement skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Portuguese.
* Ability to write board-level papers and brief senior leadership on HR issues.
* Supplier and service provider management skills.
* Good negotiating and influencing skills.
