Public Policy Strategist Role Overview
This role focuses on developing and implementing public policy strategies to advance commercial objectives in Brasilia, primarily within the Legislative Branch.
The Public Policy & Government Affairs team operates across a wide and diverse spectrum of functions, including government relations, policy expertise, risk and crisis management, outreach, partnerships, and coalition-building.
As a Public Policy Strategist, you will assist in the development and implementation of public policy strategies to advance our business objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assisting in the development and implementation of public policy strategies to advance our commercial objectives in Brasilia, primarily within the Legislative Branch;
* Monitoring and analysing political and legislative developments affecting the online betting sector, providing insights and suggestions for action plans;
* Interacting with legislators and authorities to defend our positions and interests in relation to public policy matters;
* Collaborating closely with internal teams, including Legal, Compliance, Responsible Gaming, AML, and Communications, to align business objectives with public policy goals;
* Supporting relationship-building efforts in Brasilia with legislators, policymakers, and professionals from the online gambling industry;
* Assisting in the preparation and delivery of written reports, summaries, and presentations to effectively communicate public and regulatory affairs issues to internal and external stakeholders;
* Representing us in meetings in Brasilia, industry forums, and institutions, such as associations;
* Managing the relationship with consultancies;
* Assisting in crisis management efforts from a public policy perspective, developing mitigation strategies as needed.
Requirements for success include:
* A degree in Law, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field;
* At least two years of professional experience in government relations, public policy, or related areas, preferably in regulated sectors - working for the tech industry is a plus;
* Excellent judgement, persuasion, and lobbying skills, creativity, and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and often uncertain environment;
* Knowledge of legislative processes in Brazil, with established relationships in the public policy community;
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, with the ability to build and maintain influential networks;
* Excellent writing skills;
* A proven record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams, adopting a cooperative and solution-oriented approach;
* Fluency in Portuguese and English, both spoken and written.
