Drug and alcohol prevention programs remain a core service.NOTE: The Center for Humanistic Change, Inc. in Bethlehem is not affiliated in any way with the organization of the same name in New Jersey.The Center for Humanistic Change seeks a part-time Student Mentor to serve as an in-school youth mentor for the CHC Mentoring Program for the 2025-2026 school year. Mentors are expected to work a full school day of approximately seven (7) hours per day, with start and end times to be determined based on school needs. Positions are available for one to four days per week depending on the school assignment. Attendance at occasional school open houses, back to school nights, and teacher conferences may be required.This position requires excellent judgement, attention to detail, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills to be successful. Ideal candidates need to demonstrate the ability to work with students who are "at risk" and to provide a variety of social emotional learning supports, prevention education and practical skills youth need to build resiliency so they can succeed in school (improve grades and attendance, decrease disciplinary incidents) and cope with challenges. Candidates need to work independently and with a team, manage deadlines for paperwork and electronic data entry, and have the ability to relate well to children and adults.Basic knowledge of computer technology is required. Experience with or ability to learn Google Suite applications is preferred. Mentors will be required to utilize this application to create and share documents, spreadsheets and files.Please include a resume, cover letter, and three references when applying to the Student Mentor position.If interested, there are additional work opportunities to deliver other hourly prevention education programming depending on skillsets and the availability of CHC resources. Part-time hours will not exceed 29 hours per week.A bachelor's degree is required, with relevant work experience or equivalent formal training in education, psychology, counseling, social work, public health, or a closely related human services field.All applicants must have access to mobile and home internet, have reliable transportation, and the ability to do light lifting to transport files and other materials as necessary to/from the office and school.CHC staff are expected to obtain and maintain all state and local training requirements and clearances, including PA Child Abuse history clearance, PA State Police background clearance, FBI background fingerprinting check and mandated child abuse reporter training. Clearances and criminal record checks must be in compliance and in accordance with the laws reflecting the ability to work in schools and with children. Other CHC training may be required throughout the year.If in-school programming is suspended by the schools but is permitted via electronic platforms (i.e. ZOOM) and/or other CHC approved methods during emergency closures, candidates must be willing and able to fulfill the requirements of the position through these approved means.CHC is an equal employment opportunity employer.
