About This Role
The Senior Manager, Global Assurance (“Manager”) shares with other members of the Global Assurance team the responsibility for the independent assurance function for East and South Africa, West Africa, the Americas, or Asia (the “Region”) as assigned, depending on the Manager’s location, language, and other appropriate criteria. For the assigned Region, the Manager will independently conduct and coordinate high quality Local Partner (“LP”) audits. They will also conduct Country Office (“CO”) audits, investigations, and other projects at ChildFund locations globally.
Required Experience And Education
* Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or accounting.
* Masters a plus.
* Achievement of one or more of the following professional certifications and licenses, at a local level, is a plus: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor, Certified information Systems Auditor, or Certified Fraud Examiner.
* Experience in external or internal audits. INGO audit experience a plus.
* Experience with and demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted international accounting principles, internal controls, and auditing.
* Technical experience and expertise in evaluating systems and processes, identifying weaknesses, and recommending areas for improvement.
* Experience in speaking, reading, and writing fluently in English and at least one language from the Region.
* Experience leading and executing audits and other projects independently from planning through report writing.
Primary Responsibilities
* Independently plan and conduct LP Internal Control Audits (“ICAs”), Implementing Partners (“IPs”), and report the results in exit meetings and written reports.
* Work with LP staff/ IP staff and management to test and close corrective actions for LP ICAs, and IP audits by the agreed upon date.
* Evaluating in CO reviews the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes and internal control systems and provide practical recommendations to address identified issues. Facilitate the development of management action plans and assess if they are appropriate and reasonable.
* Present findings from CO reviews orally at audit exit conferences and in written reports.
* Work with CO staff and management to test and close corrective actions from CO reviews in accordance with the timeframes originally given by CO management.
* Conduct investigations in COs, LPs and IPs assigned by Technical Director. Investigations may include reviewing various documents and interviews of personnel at the CO, LPs, IPs and communities as necessary. Report results of investigations both orally and in writing.
* Conduct special projects as assigned by the Director. Work with CO, LP or IP management to address concerns.
* Document work performed on LP ICAs, IPs audits, CO reviews, Investigations, and
* special projects to reflect work performed, type of testing, and conclusions drawn. Exceptions must be flawlessly supported.
* Proficiently use HQMS.
* Know and fully understand organization policies, procedures, and structures and provide guidance to CO management and staff accordingly.
* Remain alert and responsive to any safeguarding risks; acquire relevant knowledge and skills to enable you to understand the safeguarding policy and procedures; promote strong safeguarding practices; perform your duty and responsibility to safeguard, report violations, and promote appropriate behavior; and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the organization’s policies and values.
