The role of Security Researcher Intern is a key position within the organization's cybersecurity team. As an intern, you will be involved in various research projects and have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals.
The primary responsibility of this role is to assist with the development of processes, defining priorities, following deadlines, and delivering materials to the right teams. This involves analyzing malicious functionality in Windows x86/x64, MSIL, mobile threats, and web-related malware. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping current with the latest malware threats affecting customers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn on their own and share their research with teammates. A good understanding of x86/x64 Intel Assembly, basic knowledge of WinAPI, and experience using IDA Disassembler, HIEW, OllyDbg, or Windbg to analyze PE files are essential skills for this role. The ability to analyze and understand non-standard threats, including MacOS X, ICS, SCADA, ARM, QNX, UEFI/BIOS, etc., is also highly desirable.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity research and work closely with stakeholders, including local team members throughout the Americas. You will have the chance to participate in the development of unit-recommended practices and standards, assume responsibility for accomplishing group goals, and suggest ideas to be implemented in company products.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support research projects, develop processes, define priorities, follow deadlines, deliver material, and share with the right teams.
* Analyze malicious functionality in Windows x86/x64, MSIL, mobile threats, and web-related malware.
* Keep current with the latest malware threats affecting customers.
* Communicate with clients regarding adding detections.
* Participate in the development of unit-recommended practices and standards.
* Suggest ideas to be implemented in company products.
* Create content, analyze, and describe malicious programs (malware), threat intelligence reports, and documentation on various topics.
* Presentation of IT security to wide audiences (customers, internal sales, etc.).
* Monitor, analyze, and understand malware trends at local, regional, and global levels.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong desire to learn on your own and share research with teammates.
* Interest in malware analysis and security research.
* Knowledge of x86/x64 Intel Assembly (at least 1 year).
* Basic knowledge of WinAPI.
* Experience using IDA Disassembler, HIEW, OllyDbg, or Windbg to analyze PE files (at least 1 year).
* Executable file analysis skills in a hexadecimal editor.
* Deep knowledge in several fields, including mobile device security, statistical analysis, methods of protection against threats, security best practices, polymorphic malware, rootkits/bootkits, etc.
* Ability to analyze and understand malicious code.
* Good knowledge of file formats and Linux OS distributions.
* Excellent knowledge of Windows PE file format.
* Some experience in programming languages (Python, C#, C, C++). Fluency in English is Mandatory.
