Job Overview
This role involves editing podcast audio files, enhancing sound quality and implementing sound design. The goal is to create high-quality episodes that meet the client's needs.
The Podcast Audio Editor will be responsible for cleaning up raw audio files, removing filler words and off-topic tangents, and improving pacing and clarity without changing the speaker's voice or intent. They will also insert intro/outro segments, sponsor reads, disclaimers, and updates when required.
Responsibilities
* Edit raw podcast audio into polished, broadcast-ready episodes
* Remove filler words, false starts, redundancies, and off-topic tangents
* Improve pacing, clarity, and flow without changing the speaker's voice or intent
* Restructure sections when needed based on how questions were answered
* Insert intro/outro, sponsor reads, disclaimers, or updates when required
* Follow embedded audio notes and written instructions carefully
* Deliver clean final WAV/MP3 files on deadline
* Produce 3-4 short clips per episode for marketing use
* Support up to two rounds of edits per episode when requested
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Proven experience editing long-form podcasts (interview or narrative style)
* Strong editorial judgment - you know what to cut and why
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
* Comfortable working with physician and expert-level conversations
* Fast, reliable turnaround times
* Clear, professional communication
* Familiarity with tools like Descript, Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Logic, or similar
