Customer Representative Specialist The Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is hiring temporary Customer Representative Specialists to work 8 am–5 pm Monday through Thursday at the following locations: Augusta – 1 position Bangor – 2 positions Kennebunk – 1 position Lewiston – 1 position Portland – 1 position Scarborough – 1 position Springvale – 1 position Topsham – 1 position Pay: $ per hour. Typical Duties Assist customers with motor vehicle registrations, driver licenses and permits, State IDs (including Real ID), voter registrations, license plates, handicap placards, and title applications. Review legal documentation to verify residency, legal presence, insurance coverage, and eligibility requirements. Explain motor vehicle laws, rules, regulations, and bureau policies to the public. Process registrations, specialty plates, and title applications while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Collect and reconcile transaction funds and maintain daily cash accountability. Perform vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections when required. Assist with branch financial reconciliation in the absence of a branch manager. Support training of new employees on BMV procedures and policies. Assist with supply inventory including plates, stickers, and forms. Coordinate with other BMV units, town offices, and law enforcement when necessary. Utilize language access services to assist customers whose primary language is not English. Requirements Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates strong customer service experience assisting the public with applications, fees, examinations, or services involving eligibility or compliance requirements. Ability to make independent decisions regarding processes and actions in accordance with established procedures. Ability to effectively assist customers and maintain composure in stressful customer‐service situations.
