UNICEF is updating and expanding its Multidimensional Child Poverty study in Brazil to provide more detailed analysis at the municipal level and to incorporate the latest data from PNAD Continuous 2025.
Scope of Work
Update the study's main indicators using Continuous PNAD 2025 data and align them with the methodology dimensions. Explore linking Continuous PNAD and the 2022 Demographic Census to identify municipal‑level approaches for estimating multidimensional child poverty. Analyze data to identify trend patterns, drivers, and sub‑indicators, emphasizing variations across racial, gender, urban/rural, and other relevant subgroups. Provide insights on policy impacts such as Bolsa Família expansion and pandemic effects.
Deliverables
1. A preliminary report (Deliverable 1) – updated methodology, 2024 Multidimensional Child Poverty Index, time‑series since 2017, municipal estimates, code for all indices, graphs and tables. Deadline: 35 days. Budget: 30 % of fee.
2. A final report (Deliverable 2) – 2025 Multidimensional Child Poverty Index and analysis, same disaggregation and code requirements. Deadline: 45 days. Budget: 40 % of fee.
3. A presentation of findings (Deliverable 3) – key messages, policy recommendations, maps and additional analyses. Deadline: 60 days. Budget: 30 % of fee.
DURATION OF CONTRACT: 60 days.
Minimum Qualifications
* Advanced degree in social sciences, statistics, economics, demography or related field.
* At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, production of statistics and indicators, and quantitative research methods.
* Experience analyzing microdata from Continuous PNAD.
* Proficiency with statistical software such as STATA, Python or R.
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous work writing studies, assessments or evaluation reports for UN agencies.
* Experience with governmental research institutes.
* Experience in poverty and multidimensional poverty analysis.
Language Proficiency
Portuguese – fluent.
Financial Proposal
Submit an all‑inclusive fee covering a lump sum, administrative costs and subsistence as applicable. Fees should be based on the deliverables and contract duration.
